The Assam Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislative body of the Indian state of Assam, functioning as a crucial arm of the state's governance system. It was originally constituted in April 7, 1937 under the Government of India Act, 1935, and after India's independence, it became an integral part of the democratic structure governed by the Indian Constitution.

The Assembly consists of 126 members who are directly elected from single-member constituencies through general elections, which are held every five years. These members represent the diverse population of Assam and are responsible for enacting laws, discussing policies, and ensuring accountability in the functioning of the state government.
